Profile: Deborah Jones

Deborah Jones

Qualifications

  • Clinical Soft Tissue
  • Myofascial release
  • Neuromuscular Technique
  • Muscle Energy Technique
  • Positional release
  • Lymphatic Drainage
  • Academic prize-Applied Natural Therapeutics (naturopathy and visceral)
The person

Deborah has a sporting background in Tennis and Netball and appreciates how such sports are both physically and mentally taxing in a competitive environment. Also a keen vocalist and final year osteopathic student, Deborah understands how other aspects of life demand our time, strength and focus; making it easy to neglect health and postpone much needed recuperation. Even if we're not athletes, we still use our bodies every minute of every day. With a determined and positive attitude, Deborah approaches the individual with an open mind to encourage optimal health.

The Therapist

Deborah has experience of treating office workers, triathletes, martial artists, netball, tennis and squash players. Clinical experience has revealed how body structure mirrors current and desired function as well as past injury. The growing competitive nature of sport increases training demands that cause a multi-system body response and neuromuscular changes; therefore overactivity is sometimes as detrimental as inactivity. A state of health is deeply personal; relying on balance between stress and rest, nutrient delivery and waste removal, mind and body. Using an array of personally tailored techniques, body system function can be restored. Such clinically effective techniques improve flexibility, circulation, muscle tone and regeneration through neurological effects on muscle groups and myofascial components. Treatment is focused on the symptomatic area as well as any areas that contribute to pain or stiffness. When treatment is combined with adequate nutrition, natural body systems will optimally respond.

Deborah practices at our clinic in Trump St, St. Paul's.

Profile: Mat Pollard

Mat Pollard

Qualifications

  • BTEC Level 5 Diploma Sports Massage Therapy
  • BTEC Level 4 Diploma Holistic Massage Therapy
  • ITEC Level 3 Anatomy & Physiology
The Person:

My fitness regime centres around weight training which I have participated in for over 20 years.

In my early years of training I experienced many injuries through inadequate knowledge and improper warm-up and cool-down.

2 years ago I began to get pain in both my shoulders to the point where it was even affecting my sleep. I booked in at Perfect Balance Hatfield to see a Sports Therapist who realised that I needed Physiotherapy and referred me in-house. It took about 12 weeks of stretching and strengthening various muscles to fully realign my shoulders to the point where there was no discomfort at all. I was amazed and realised that I wanted to get into this line of work and if possible, work for Perfect Balance.

Now I am a qualified therapist I can recognise all the mistakes I made in the gym and my training has come on in leaps and bounds with no injuries at all. I take great pride in working closely with my clients as individuals and tailoring my treatments to their specific injuries.

The Therapist:

Mat graduated as a Sports Therapist and Holistic Therapist through Essentials for Health in London December 2012.

Mat’s treatments are designed around restoring muscle balance through lengthening and reconditioning tight hypertonic muscles and building strength in the weaker lengthened muscles.
Muscle balance enables the body to perform more efficiently with less injury.

Although he is newly qualified he has over 250 massage hours under his belt which include treatments for Lateral Epicondylitis (Tennis Elbow), Plantar Fasciitis, Lumbar Pain, Median Nerve Impingement and Chondromalacia Patella.

Mat is qualified to perform the following techniques;

  • Myofascial Release - Direct, Indirect and Thumb Rolling
  • Jones Strain Counter Strain
  • Transverse Frictions
