SPORTS THERAPIST

Alex Walker

I am a dedicated sports therapist with a passion for helping individuals achieve their optimal physical health and performance. With extensive experience in managing musculoskeletal injuries, rehabilitation, and clinical education, I have worked with professional athletes, development teams, and academic institutions. My expertise lies in delivering tailored treatment plans, injury prevention strategies, and guiding clients through effective return-to-play protocols. Whether on the pitch or in the clinic, I thrive on supporting others to overcome challenges and reach their full potential.

I have had the privilege of working across various roles in sports therapy and rehabilitation, blending hands-on experience with leadership responsibilities. Currently, I am a Sports Therapist for Blackheath RFC, where I support the Club XV players as part of the multidisciplinary team, and I also serve as the Area Lead Sports Therapist for the RFU Player Development Group Girls U18, overseeing medical support for development players and liaising with the England U18 Physiotherapist. Previously, I worked as a Sports Therapist for the WBBL Essex Rebels, facilitating return-to-play protocols for professional female basketball players, and for Westcliff RFC during the 2023-2024 season. My earlier roles included providing therapy and support for Cornwall County RFU, leading the medical team at St Austell RFC, and working with the BBL Plymouth Raiders.

In addition to my pitchside work, I have extensive academic and clinical leadership experience. As a Sports Therapy Lecturer at the University of East London, I led the setup of the University Sports Injury Clinic while delivering high-quality academic content. I also served as an Associate Lecturer at Plymouth Marjon University, taking on module lead responsibilities. Prior to this, I managed the Sport & Health Clinic at Plymouth Marjon University, overseeing its operations and ensuring the delivery of exceptional clinical care.
