Senior Osteopath, IBCLC and Pregnancy Specialist
Sara Randall
Since graduating with a degree in midwifery in 2002, I have worked as a midwife within the NHS for an extensive period of time having qualified as midwife in 2002. I qualified as an osteopath in 2008 and an IBCLC in 2013. I specialise in pregnancy-related musculoskeletal pains, breastfeeding issues and helping newborns and children following a traumatic birth using cranial osteopathy.
My three qualifications make me a unique professional within the midwifery and osteopathic field. I gained extensive experience within midwifery since qualifying in 2002, which makes me an ideal medical professional to consult. I trained at the British College of Osteopathic Medicine (BCOM) and gained a Bachelor of Osteopathic Medicine and a Diploma in Naturopathic Medicine.
I have been a senior lecturer in Clinical Methods for osteopathic students at BCOM and have taught over an eight year period. I have also gained cranial osteopathic experience and I have studied foundation courses in this field. I have completed the ALSO course (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics), and I have studied with Deborah Robertson on the LEAARC-approved IBLCE course (International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners). Breastfeeding challenges are an area I enjoy working with and have great success with women who previously felt like giving up.
I aim to have a very sensitive and friendly approach to treating clients and maintain my professional integrity at all times. My interests within the professional field include not only obstetrics, but also paediatrics, and I have also spent a short period of time at the Osteopathic Centre for Children on their MSc programme. Working at Watford General Hospital on the delivery suite and birth unit has allowed me to communicate and liaise with members of a multidisciplinary team. My experience is very specialised within the antenatal and immediate postnatal period.
My goals are to provide each client with individualised osteopathy care and I’m more than happy to share my knowledge and experience so that each and every person who enters my osteopathy clinic is empowered and motivated to become fitter, healthier and more aware of the functioning body.
