What Are The Health Benefits Of Pilates?
There are many reports on the health benefits of Pilates, with the general consensus being that Pilates helps improve posture, muscle tone and flexibility, core strength and joint mobility, as well as relieve stress and tension.
Our Pilates classes frequently provide pain relief to people with non-specific lower back pain by strengthening the muscles that support the spine and strengthening core muscles to stabilise the body. In addition to general health benefits, Pilates also leaves you with a slimmer waist, toned stomach and a leaner appearance.
What Are The Health Benefits Of Pilates?
Pilates is suitable for people of all ages, fitness and health. Programmes can be tailored to individual needs. For example, for older adults, we work to improve mobility and balance by focusing on posture, coordination and breathing.
It is also excellent for injury rehab as it is a gentle way of strengthening weak areas and raising activity levels. As with all exercise programmes, it’s advisable to seek advice from your GP or a health professional before beginning Pilates if you have any concerns about a health condition or an injury.

What To Expect From Our Classes?
Our instructors are used to teaching clients of all abilities, from those who are new to Pilates through to elite athletes and everyone in between.
You will be given an initial private session that will assess your starting point. The instructor assesses your particular body needs as well as your personal goals.
You will be taught the fundamentals of Pilates such as breathing, alignment and pelvic floor activation. From here, the instructor will be able to tell you which class is best for you to join.
All instructors teach a progressive approach to Pilates and incorporate neutral spine. They can progress you onto the classical repertoire but only when they feel that you are ready.
We ask clients to wear something that you can move easily in. That said, opt for closer fitting clothing rather than loose clothes, as this enables the instructor to check your alignment more easily. You can wear socks or do Pilates with bare feet.

Can I Injure Myself Doing Pilates?
Injuries are uncommon as Pilates is a gentle, low-impact form of exercise. Prior to starting Pilates, we will always have a discussion with you to ensure you that we offer you the appropriate class for your level of fitness and Pilates experience.
Can I Do Pilates If I Am Pregnant?
Yes, you are welcome to join one of our pregnancy Pilates classes from 14 weeks of pregnancy, taught by a specialist instructor. We offer you a free 15-minute consultation with an osteopath beforehand to check you are fit to start classes. We keep the classes small to ensure individual attention throughout the class.
Is Pilates Cardiovascular Exercise?
Pilates is not designed as a cardiovascular workout, and beginner classes will not get you out of breath. The intermediate and advanced classes do go at a faster pace, however, and may feel more like an aerobic workout.
