What is Gait Analysis?

Gait Analysis is the study of the way in which a person walks, for the purposes of diagnosis and treatment. In order to perform gait analysis, a number of different tools are used; video analysis and pressure plate analysis, as well as through the observation and interpretation skills of our highly trained team of specialists.

What is Pressure Plate Analysis?

Pressure Plate Analysis involves the use of innovative technology which is capable of identifying any problems concerned with abnormal foot pressures and movements that happen when a person is walking. These issues are impossible to detect with the naked eye alone, so pressure plate analysis is indispensable. To complement this, we also carry out a physical and treadmill examination, and this combination then allows us to accurately diagnose conditions of the lower limbs.

    Why is Gait Analysis important?

    The Importance of Gait Analysis

If you have even a seemingly minor problem which has started to develop in your feet, this will cause subtle changes in the manner in which you walk, which in turn causes a chain reaction of adjustments in both your walking mechanism and also your posture. These adjustments then cause more serious problems to develop, due to the fact that they put stress on joints higher up your body.

In order to minimise these abnormal movements and thus stop further problems from developing, we use a combination of orthotics (supportive shoe inserts), and specific exercises which are specially designed and individualised. We are able to make the correct decision in regards to your treatment through the use of our bio-mechanical assessment.
