What is Gait Analysis?

Gait analysis is the assessment of the way a person walks. This can be done with video analysis, pressure plate analysis and through observation and interpretation by our highly skilled specialists.

Using innovative technology, pressure plate analysis can identify abnormal foot pressures and movements during the footstep that are not visible to the eye. It is used alongside a physical and treadmill examination to diagnose lower limb conditions.

Why is Gait Analysis important?

When a small problem develops in your feet, subtle changes in the way you walk will cause a chain reaction of adjustments in your posture and walking mechanics. These adjustments can put stress on joints higher up your body, and lead to more serious problems.

Orthotics (supportive shoe inserts) alongside exercises are able to minimise these abnormal movements and associated stresses. Our bio-mechanical assessment is a repeatable way of being able to help make the right decision regarding treatment.
